CEBEO
An interactive 3D exhibition stand
CEBEO, the electro wholesaler of electrical and electrotechnical equipment, organises its own biennial exhibition within 3 market segments: residential, industrial and tertiary. More than 170 exhibitors from suppliers and manufacturers show the latest innovations within the various fields.
A three-dimensional world
Each exhibition is built around one specific theme. The theme of the 2019 fair was technology and services. Digitalisation and new technological gadgets are omnipresent. For example, the QR code has become a basic concept in the digital world. Therefore it had to be the eye-catcher in the design of the central stand. Expo Z designed and implemented this innovative and playful exhibition stand.
Service and technology = QR code
During the briefing, it quickly became clear that the central stand of CEBEO needed to stand out. They wanted to put the themes of service and technology at the centre of the design of this stand. A QR code encompasses both these aspects.
After several brainstorming sessions, our interior designers got to work.
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that you can read with a smartphone. The code contains specific digital information: a link to your company’s site, a video, a document … It is a simple tool that helps you get to a particular URL quickly. By pointing a smartphone (with QR reader) at the code, you are immediately redirected to the link. This allows you to provide the right info right away in seconds. Handy, right?
Floor with checkerboard pattern and ceiling elements
To bring the QR code to life, we elaborated it in 3D. A raised system floor with checkerboard pattern and the suspended ceiling elements were part of the code. If you were to photograph the stand in top view, you would get a nice overall view of the QR code. Creative isn’t it? The flat black-and-white shapes of a QR code were translated into a three-dimensional world, so to speak.
At the customer’s request, the concept was made in a more open way to provide more transparency throughout the stand. In addition to the black ceiling elements, several white ones were added to create a more airy atmosphere. The 3 corporate colours around their services were also added to the design.
LED walls and touchscreens
The integration of 80 m² of LED walls and many touchscreens makes this stand interactive and a feast for the eyes. Visitors to the stand are triggered at every point to keep reading, watching or reacting. The story of CEBEO’s services is also nicely presented each time.
Because of the very challenging suspended structures we relied on a trustworthy partner for the rigging of the trusses, stand lighting and LED wall screens. This cooperation went flawlessly, allowing visitors to enjoy a beautiful interplay of LED walls.
Careful dismantling and storage
After the successful fair, the stand was carefully disassembled and stored in Expo Z’s warehouse, allowing CEBEO to call on the elements created for this particular fair at a later date. Whatever cannot ultimately be reused was expertly dismantled and recycled. Sustainability first.
