The base of your exhibition stand can be carpet or vinyl, but also a raised floor or a combination of both. A raised floor is usually preferred; it provides a good foundation for further construction of your exhibition stand.
A raised floor is a floating platform on stands mounted on the exhibition floor. This is constructed from aluminium frames and filled in with wooden tiles.

An exhibition floor is not always nice and even. A raised exhibition floor is always levelled, regardless of the surface. A solid base so that everything can be built up squarely. Without a raised floor, walls could be tilted or start floating over longer lengths. By using a raised floor with adjustable feet, height differences in the ground can be absorbed.
One of the main advantages is that electrical cables, water supply, drainage pipes and other technical cabling can be neatly concealed under the floor. This way, you maintain a neat look at your exhibition stand without a mess of cables.
For exhibitors who display a lot of electrically connected appliances on their stand, this is actually a must.
With an exhibition stand where the carpet lies directly on the exhibition floor, you will see all the cables running under the carpet. The resulting folds and waves in the carpet could cause someone to trip or fall.
A raised floor gives your stand more cachet. Because your stand is some 10 centimetres higher than the aisle, it gives your stand more radiance and prestige.
You can also incorporate things into the raised floor. Think of a glass tile, where you can present products under the glass like in a showcase. Or a coloured glass tile with lighting underneath is always an eye-catcher at the exhibition.
When finished with melamine tiles, the floor is also easy to maintain. After all, this is the material of a kitchen worktop or table. If a spill happens, it can easily be cleaned up with a piece of paper or a mop.
With carpet, that stain would remain visible for the rest of the fair. The floor is also easy to clean with a damp mop during daily maintenance.
A raised floor gives your stand physical demarcation. Especially with a head or island stand, this can be useful to create clarity about where the stand begins and the aisle ends.
A raised floor also ensures that people do not keep walking across your stand to cut corners during busy times at the fair.
To accommodate wheelchair users at your stand, it is advisable to build a sloping ramp into your floor.
Renting a raised floor is slightly more expensive than laying a standard exhibition-quality carpet. But because we work with a quick to build system floor, this is a cost-effective solution. From the moment you go to the more expensive versions or high-pile carpet, the price almost matches.
In terms of sustainability, a raised floor scores better than exhibition carpet. Carpet ends up in the dustbin en masse after the exhibition, whereas a raised floor is neatly dismantled and stored in our warehouse. The tiles are reused several times before they are worn out and recycled as wood waste.
