The base of your exhibition stand can consist of carpet, vinyl, a raised floor or a combination of these. A raised floor is often the preferred choice, as it provides a solid foundation for the rest of your exhibition stand’s construction.
A raised floor is a floating platform mounted on the exhibition stand floor. It is typically built using aluminium frames filled with wooden tiles.
For the finish, you have two options:
The edges of the raised platform are neatly finished with an aluminium or coloured skirting board.
Exhibition floors are not always perfectly even. A raised exhibition floor guarantees an even surface, regardless of the ground below. This solid base ensures that everything can be built up squarely. Without a raised floor, walls may lean or appear uneven over longer distances. With adjustable feet, the raised floor compensates for height differences in the ground.
One of the main benefits is that electrical cables, water supply, drainage pipes and other technical cabling can be neatly concealed under the floor. This keeps your stand looking clean and tidy, without the mess of cables.
For exhibitors with numerous electrically connected appliances, a raised floor is essential.
With a stand where the carpet is laid directly on the exhibition floor cables will create bumps and waves under the carpet, posing a tripping hazard.
A raised floor elevates your stand by approximately 10 centimetres above the aisle level, giving your stand greater presence and prestige.
You can integrate various elements into the raised floor, such as a glass tile to showcase products underneath or a coloured glass tile with backlighting – both of which are great eye-catchers at exhibitions.
When finished with melamine tiles, the raised floor is easy to maintain. Melamine is the same material used for kitchen worktops or tables, making it simple to clean spills with paper towels or a mop.
In contrast, spills on carpet would leave visible stains for the rest of the fair. During daily cleaning, the floor can be wiped with a damp mop for quick upkeep.
A raised floor helps to physically define the boundaries of your stand, which is especially useful for head or island stands, to clearly indicate where the stand begins and the aisle ends.
It also prevents visitors from cutting through your stand during busy times at the fair.
For wheelchair accessibility, it is advisable to incorporate a sloping ramp into your raised floor.
Renting a raised floor is slightly more expensive than laying a standard exhibition carpet. However, thanks to our quick-to-build system floor, it remains a cost-effective solution. When you opt for more premium versions or high-pile carpet, the price difference becomes negligible.
In terms of sustainability, a raised floor is a better option than traditional exhibition carpet. While carpets often end up in the waste container after the event, a raised floor is carefully dismantled and stored in our warehouse. The tiles can be reused multiple times before being recycled as wood waste once they reach the end of their lifespan.
